WOOD

The virtues of Wood

Wood has many virtues, including lightness, which is no coincidence when wearing glasses. The softness of the bamboo and wood lenses makes them very comfortable to wear. The use of noble materials such as wood is important when selecting a frame. Each tree is unique and this uniqueness is found in each piece. Handmade, our glasses preserve the unique characteristics of the wood such as its fibers, texture, coloration, grain and aroma.

A touch of exclusivity

Choosing wood is offering you a pair of glasses that beautifies over time. Therefore, your sunglasses will be unique and will subtly add a touch of exclusivity to your style.

Timber

There are several essences of wood for ecological and natural glasses. DUMU wood or "Du Lei" is light in color (between beige and light gray), and comes from subtropical regions such as India or Southeast Asia. DUMU is known for being a resistant material, lighter than acetate and at the same time very uniform in color.

It is also recognized for its light aroma. Bamboo wood usually comes from Southeast Asia, and we can find it in natural or dyed colors.

Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants in the world and is harvested only when the stems reach their greatest strength and are mature. This ensures that the crop will not have any impact on other species that depend on bamboo for food.

Ebony wood is black, hard and dense. It is so heavy that it sinks in water. However, it has a very fine texture and when polished it is very very smooth. Sometimes we can find it with white stripes.

Zebra wood or Zebrawood, as its name indicates, is striped. It is usually a pale golden-yellow color and has regular or irregular dark brown or black streaks. It comes mainly from Central Africa. There are also many other types of glasses wood, such as walnut wood, cherry wood, red rosewood, beech wood...

The micas

The lenses of our lenses are made of TAC (Cellulose Triacetate), they are polarized and offer total protection against UVA UVB UVC 400, category 3 sun rays.

What is polarization?:

Sunlight vibrates in all directions, but when it bounces off a horizontal surface (asphalt, snow, water,...) it becomes partially polarized, that is: the horizontal component of that vibration increases to the point where it becomes a light. very bright and annoying: a reflection.

Polarized lenses are sunglasses that contain a special filter that blocks reflected light and only allows useful light to pass through, allowing glare-free vision with natural color and contrast.

The advantages of Polarized sunglasses are:

  • Glare-free vision
  • Superior sharpness and contrast
  • Total protection against UV rays
  • Colors that look more natural
  • Reduction of eye fatigue and improves the ability to concentrate while driving
  • Light and resistant lenses that provide more comfort and safety
  • Suitable for people with high light sensitivity
  • They exist with and without prescription: progressive lenses
  • They can be manufactured in combination with other features, such as: photochromic and polarized lenses, for example
  • Also ideal for children due to their combination of protection and superior vision

Polarization is a phenomenon that is difficult to explain. However, the advantages of polarized sunglasses are instantly clear:

Polarized lenses are made of several layers:

Polarized lenses are more complex than traditional solar lenses and are made up of several layers that include a polarization core and various UV filters and protective layers:
